The Lipid Profile 6005 provides a basic assessment of cholesterol and triglyceride levels in your blood.
Although cholesterol is important for the functioning of your body, excessive amounts can lead to serious health conditions. This test is recommended as a general health check up. Further testing is recommended for a more in depth understanding.
Patients experiencing diabetes, heart disease, excess body weight, poor lung or liver health or those who have a family history of high cholesterol may benefit from testing.
The Lipid Profile 6005 is a sufficient examination of both “good” and “bad” cholesterol and the levels of triglycerides in the blood.
Responsible for delivering most cholesterol to the cells, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol is often referred to as “bad.” When levels are too high your risk of heart conditions is increased.
Meanwhile, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol is considered the “good” cholesterol as it helps to absorb excess cholesterol out of cells, carrying it to the liver so it can be removed from the body.
This test provides a basic understanding. If results of this test are abnormal our team will guide patients through a further investigation, especially if there is a history of high blood pressure, heart abnormalities, excess body weight or diabetes.
